Fall 2022 Equipping Classes
September 11, 2022 to November 20, 2022
8:00pm – 1:00pmCategory: Equipping
CBC is offering a slate of equipping classes that will start the second week of September. You never regret learning more about God from God’s Word. Equipping classes are designed to help you grow in various areas of life–we highly recommend taking a class this season so you can grow side-by-side with your CBC family. Date and times vary and we want to encourage you to take a look at each one of these and sign-up for one of them.
Fundamentals of the Faith
The objective of this class is to provide a greater understanding of the Gospel in order to have a working foundation of the Christian life.
The Sinfulness of Sin
Sin is the greatest problem and threat to all of mankind. You won't hear that statement in false religions, universities, counselors, or sadly, even many so-called churches. But unless one comes to recognize sin, they will never come to faith in Christ. To misunderstand sin is to misunderstand the Gospel; to know and see what sin is, is to know and see the glory of God in the Gospel. Join us as we allow God's Word to expose the truth about sin, the truth about our hearts, and the truth about the only medicine for such a fatal pandemic.
Your Spiritual Heritage: A Bitesize Exploration of Church History
Spend 8 weeks exploring certain eras of the church and a few important church history figures.
The objective of this class is to inform and spiritually edify as the will lectures provide historical overview, as well as focus on biographical portraits of certain believers. We will see how the Lord uses ordinary people to build His extraordinary church.
Coffee and Counsel
Coffee and Counsel is an informal time spent together on Sunday mornings to discuss anything and everything under the sun. The discussion will range from spontaneous questions and answer to mini-series on different Biblical counseling subjects. Please come to be equipped, encouraged, edified, and energized for corporate worship together.
Know the Word - From the Psalms
There is a difference between telling you what the Bible says, and equipping you with tools to extract the endless riches of Scripture. By handing you the tools you’ll need and teach you one of the best methods, you are:
- Launching into a new dimension in Bible reading and studying
- Increasing your ability to study the Scriptures and understand its message
- Integrating the Word into your personal life so that you can encourage and build up others in Christ
(Postponed) Gospelism - You Can Minister the Gospel to Everyone
Saints, thank you for the interest in the class. I (Pastor Ben) have decided to postpone the class, to a different format that take the place over a couple days, rather than devoting multiple session as before. I will keep this group open as a place for you receive updates on that announcement.
Since the Gospel is "the power of God for salvation" (Romans 1:16) then we should all desire to know and grow in the Gospel. Jude appealed to believers to contend for the faith because others were compromising the Gospel (Jude 3-4). Paul warned the Galatians that anyone who messes with truth of the Gospel is accursed (Galatians 1:8-9). The Gospel is the treasure that Timothy was commanded to guard and suffer for (2 Tim. 1:8-14). If a Christian doesn't know anything else, they better know the Gospel. This class is intended to equip you in being able to minister to others by articulating the Gospel in all of life's situations– in evangelism, apologetics, counseling, and discipleship.
At the heart of Christianity lies the premise that God created everything, and it ultimately belongs to Him. Human beings exist as stewards (or managers) of God's resources—this includes our money. Stewardship isn't just an aspect of the Christian life; it is the whole of the Christian life. This is a practical class on how to manage, invest, and give your money for God's purposes.
The Pastor and Parent Workout
One of the most powerful verses about parenting in the Bible says "Fathers [or Parents], do not provoke your children to anger, but give them what they need to grow in the training and counsel of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4)." That sounds a lot like the verse about pastoring that says, "[Pastors], shepherd the flock of God among you, [...] not lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock (1 Peter 5:2-4)."
In this class, as a group, we will work out the same "spiritual muscles" that are important for strong parents and pastors, as we practically depend on Christ to empower us to shepherd the people He has entrusted to us, for the benefit of our homes, our church, and the glory of God.
Are you considering being an elder in the church? Do you want to know if you’re called to be a shepherd? Or maybe you’re just interested in learning more about what it means to be an overseer? Whatever the reason, we’re calling all interested men to participate in this 4 month (8 lecture) course to biblically define and describe the character and essence of being an elder.
We need elders at CBC, and this is one practical way we want to cultivate and build up men to fulfill that role in the church. Taking this class does not mean one is qualified or will become an elder, but it’s a good first step to see what the Bible says.
We plan on meeting twice a month on Sunday evening after the prayer meeting. This is intentional… for a man who is called to pastoral ministry is called to a ministry of prayer.
