Singing Together

sing
Eph. 5:18-19 and Col. 3:16 instruct us in what to sing, and who to sing it to. 1) We should sing truths from the Word of God- of which Jesus Christ is the culmination and cornerstone (John 5:39; Eph. 2:20); 2) we should sing with thankful hearts to God and to one another. This is the desire and aim of the music ministry at City Bible Church.

Practically, we have an intentional blend of contemporary music and timeless hymns. This balance may not be perfect on every individual Sunday, but is characteristic of the ministry as a whole. Lastly, the congregation is understood to be the primary voice during this time, the musicians minister to serve and support your voice- not vice versa. Scripture Reading

This is the only perfect, inerrant, and God-breathed (2 Tim. 3:16-17) portion of our service because we read a text of Scripture (1 Tim. 4:13).

Pastoral Prayer

After the reading of a portion of Scripture, our church is led in prayer from the pulpit. It is a special privilege to pray together before our Father.

Giving

Giving is an act of worship (references). We provide this time for the believers to express their trust in God’s worth and provision by giving financially. If you are a visitor with us, please do not feel compelled or obligated to give.

Preaching God's Word

preach

God has revealed Himself in His written Word, the Bible. We are committed to the expository preaching of God’s Word which means that the purpose and intent of the sermon flows out of the purpose and intent of the original writers moved by God (2 Peter 1:20-21). The greatest charge given to a pastor in Scripture is to "Preach the Word" (2 Tim. 4:1-2); not opinions, not cleverness, not dreams, nor stories. When the Bible speaks, God speaks (Jer. 23:28-29).
