Men's Meeting
Gentlemen,
After a neat reminder in Psalm 145, that God’s Greatness is “Unsearchable,” I thought it would be a cool idea to look at a Bible text together and mine the riches of the greatness of Christ.
So here's the gameplan:
-I will give you a Bible passage
-Read it/make some observations about the text (you can use the list of questions that I provide), some studying & meditating will be required
-We will work through the text on Friday in a Bible study discussion format
Why do this:
-I like the idea of being in a text together
-We will be edified by the text
-We want to make sure we’re good at studying a Bible passage.
So here is the Bible text:
Luke 8:26-39, “Jesus heals a man with a demon”
Question that may help guide you in studying the text:
- Where is “the country of the Gerasenes” located?
- Why did Jesus come here?
- Why did the demoniac come to Jesus?
- What is the point/purpose of demons entering people?
- What are the “tombs” like in the culture and context?
- Is it common for demons to cry out around Christ in the gospel accounts?
- Why did the demoniac fall down?
- In v.26 is the man or the demon speaking?
- What does a loud voice indicate? Shouting?
- How did the demoniac know that this was Jesus?
- How did the demoniac know that this was the Son of God?
- Why does the demon assume that Jesus is going to torment him?
- Why would the demoniac be put into chains?
- What is the point of Jesus interacting with the demoniac?
- What does “legion” mean?
- Why would the demons want to go into pigs?
- Why would the demons want to kill the pigs?
- Why were the people afraid?
- Why didn’t the people respond with reverent worship?
- Did the man show signs of not only being healed but also being saved?
- Why would Jesus want the demoniac to go back to his hometown?
- In the 21st century why is it important to know that Jesus has power over the spiritual realm?
- What is some practical/personal application?
Hope you can make it, the discussion will be profitable.
